Behold, what I have seen to be good and fitting is to eat and drink and find enjoyment in all the toil with which one toils under the sun the few days of his life that God has given him - Ecclesiastes 5:18
Fall in love with the process of getting better at your craft or making progress on whatever journey you are on. Goals in and of themself aren’t bad - in fact they are a very good thing for you to be able to have direction in your life whether that be losing weight or starting a business or paying off debt.
The word of God teaches us that ultimately though that all of that is vanity (or a puff of smoke - a vapor) but that that we should find enjoyment in our toil anyways because God is sovereign over all and he gives his children the ability to enjoy their lives that he has given them.
This does not excuse us from the responsibility of work nor should it drive us to despair (which is why I have issue with some bible translations that translate the hebrew word hebel ( הבל - Vanity/vapor) as meaningless because ultimately in Christ all things find their meaning in him and our ultimate goal is that of avodah ( עבודה ) which is used interchangeably for the words work, worship, and service.
Oftentimes we try and separate out those things out today in modern Christianity but ultimately all of life is to be lived to the glory of God and we are to give our best at whatever talent and skill God has blesses us with in our toil under the sun.
And while it is all just a vapor we are to find enjoyment in it anyways because it is all to the glory of God.
